You will be moved by the directness of numbers like "I Miss You" and you'll admire the craftsmanship behind the elegies to losers and coal miners, all told with a commendable lack of sentimentality. There are echoes of Cohen and Dylan here but that is no bad thing. Every song has the hallmark of Davies's dark distinctive, poetic voice."
